Tobacco Free Campus Policy
REVISED AUGUST 2002
{This document is a reissuance of the Tobacco
Free Campus Policy issued in 1993 following implementation of
the Division of Housing’s Tobacco Free Policy in August
2002}
No tobacco products may be used in facilities or vehicles of
the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Use of tobacco products on the grounds of any UNL site is allowed
as long as such use is not within close proximity (defined as
within 10 feet) of any facility entrance or work site.
As in the past, UNL will attempt to aid persons who wish to stop
smoking by providing remedial mechanisms authorized by the University’s
benefits program. In addition, cessation classes will be available
at times convenient to UNL personnel outside of normal working
hours. To find out more about these programs contact the Smoking
Cessation Specialist and Wellness Coordinator at 472-7405.
Facilities Management and Landscape Services Departments will
coordinate signage reflecting this policy, and tobacco waste receptacle
placement.
Noncompliance with these provisions will be managed in accordance
with existing human resource guidelines with regard to faculty
and staff, and existing Student Affairs guidelines in as far as
students are concerned.
