Everyone has their favorite time of the year on campus, but this time of the year seems extra special with the flowers, shrubs, and trees blooming to showcase a beautiful Big 10 campus! 

Assistant Director of Landscape Services Eileen Bergt and Operations Manager Susan Budler have been working on a Historic Tree Tour for both city campus and east campus and the city tour is now ready to go!

Two tree plantings will be taking place on campus to highlight Arbor Day. National Arbor Day in Nebraska is always celebrated on the last Friday in April, but many states observe Arbor Day on different dates throughout the year based on best tree planting times in their area. Arbor Day originated in Nebraska and was officially proclaimed in 1874 by Governor Robert Furnas and became a legal state holiday in Nebraska in 1885.  Arbor Day is celebrated in all 50 states.

The Employee Assistance Program is offering a series of Friday morning chats for all faculty and staff feeling socially isolated.

University of Nebraska–Lincoln employees can access W-2 tax forms electronically via Firefly.

Employees must be enrolled to receive the W-2 forms via the online service. Opting for electronic delivery allows employees to have early access to forms in mid-January and the ability to review W-2 forms from previous years. It also reduce printing and postage costs for the university.

As a result of an Executive Order signed by President Trump on December 11, 2020, Gov. Ricketts has announced that Nebraska state government agencies will be closed on Thursday, December 24, 2020. State law provides that whenever the President gives federal employees paid time off, the State of Nebraska shall grant the same benefit to state employees.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will be closed from Thursday, Dec. 24 through Sunday, Jan. 3. Employees will return to work on Monday, Jan. 4.

The University of Nebraska system has extended the deadline for a program that allows employees to voluntarily reduce work hours and pay, but maintain full-time benefits coverage. Announced in June, the program is intended to reduce labor costs and address budgetary impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
