The University recovers many items that are left behind throughout its daily operations. Most items are maintained by the departments who find the items. These Departments will hold items for 30 days. Departments will turn over the items of significant value to UNL Police for secure storage.
The UNL Police Department will accept the following items:
Calculators and electronic equipment that are in working order
Prescription eyeglasses
Clothing in good condition and valued in excess of $100.00
Call the UNL Police Department (472-2222) immediately for pickup of any of the above items. The UNL Police Department will keep lost and found items for 30 days. Every attempt will be made to locate the owner. After 30 days the property will be deemed abandoned and disposed of in a manner according to statutory guidelines.
All other items may be stored by departments in their own lost and found. We recommend these items be held for 30 days and then disposed of. Departments are encouraged to donate usable items to charitable organizations.
