UNL Vehicles Requiring Commercial Drivers License

1. Combination of vehicles with Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
2. Single vehicle with GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
3. Single vehicle less that 26,001 pounds GVWR, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR, comprising of vehicles required to be placarded for hazardous materials or any bus designed to transport 16 or more passengers including the driver.

Effective May 1, 2007, driving records will be checked annually for all drivers holding commercial drivers licenses.

Annually, all drivers of vehicles requiring a CDL must have submitted their first & last name, date of birth, divers' license number or a photo copy of their drivers' license and the employing departments cost object to Transportation Services. Note: The department employing the driver is responsible for all fees required to obtain driving records. Student drivers who are not UNL employees are responsible for all fees required to obtain driving records.
