B&F Business Center Finance Specialist-Lead Skylar Wendel has been awarded the Summer 2025 B+F Bravo Award.
“I’m thrilled to recognize Sklyar as our B+F Bravo winner for his commitment to advancing technology innovation for our BFBC Business Center,” said Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance Mike Zeleny. “His solutions-focused work and dedication to ensuring that his colleagues and customers benefit from software and technology solutions drives success in his unit and the university.”
Business and Finance staff can be nominated for the B+F Bravo Award by demonstrating significant impact to Business + Finance units and/or UNL more broadly by exemplifying the department’s six values and principles: Trust and Integrity, Collaboration, Stewardship, Invest in Our People, Deliver Clear and Consistent Service and Communication & Drive Forward-thinking Solutions.
Wendel’s nominator said this regarding the commitment to the B+F Values and Principles, “When I think of our principle of Driving Forward-Thinking Solutions, Skylar Wendel immediately comes to mind. As a Finance Specialist-Lead in the Business and Finance Business Center, Skylar consistently identifies creative and practical ways to enhance processes. He not only seeks opportunities for improvement within his department but also prioritizes the time and effort of stakeholders by leveraging technology to make processes more efficient and less time-consuming.”
Wendel’s nominator added this about how Skylar's actions positively impacted the university overall, “Skylar regularly goes above and beyond the scope of his position to lead meaningful process improvements that support innovation and success at the university.”
Up to two awards are handed out annually. One is handed out in July and one in December. Nominations submitted December – May are considered for the July award, and nominations submitted June – November are considered for the December award.
