Scope

This policy applies to office/service and managerial/professional employees at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) who have successfully completed their six (6) month post-hire probationary period.

Reason for Policy

The university encourages employees to communicate their grievances. Employees should be able to follow a fair grievance procedure to be heard and avoid conflicts. That way we can foster a supportive and pleasant workplace for everyone and ensure that each employee of the University of Nebraska receives fair and equitable treatment.

Definitions

Grievance Committee: Standing committee consisting of twelve UNL employees who are appointed by the chancellor for three-year terms to serve on Grievance Panels on a rotating selection basis.

Grievance Panel: A three-member panel from the Grievance Committee to hear a work-related employee grievance and to recommend to the chancellor for its disposition.
